The wine selection was small, but great. Red wine comes in a water glass and I love that. I had a dish called Grandma’s Gravy which was basically the best meat tomato sauce I’ve ever had with linguine. Slow cooked with pork and beef to perfection. You can tell alot about a place when you order something so simple and they absolutely blow you away with it. That was my experience.
My wife had a truffle stuffed gnocchi with pesto. Holy crap! So good!

Little Shanghai was closed and my family was hungry so we pulled up to this place to check it out. We were tourists travelling without a trusty smart phone to give us the scoop on this place.
When we went inside, we notived that the place was close to empty even though it was lunchtime. As my family always says, wherever my dad goes, business follows. But unfortunately for these guys, my dad stayed home to take care of some housework.
There were a few things I noticed when I went here.
1) The staff was made up of young adults perhaps going to the UC. Our waiter was dressed in a white dress shirt and jeans–and his shirt wasn’t tucked in (!) which made my family uncomfortable. He also failed to give us water unless we asked.
2) The girls’ bathroom had a large window facing the street which was covered up by some blinds (thankfully), and made my cousins and me uneasy about doing our business. In the boys’ bathroom, my brother said the room was dark and smelly as it had no window.
3) The plates and tables were very clean. Unlike most places I visit, the plates are sticky and the tables give off a bad smell. These place had shiny and squeaky-clean utensils and reflecting surfaces. I’ll give them credit for that.
The food wasn’t very good. It was greasy here and tasteless there. My cousin insisted on trying the lemon chicken, a dish that always went wrong when we ordered it. DON’T ORDER THE LEMON CHICKEN!!!!! It was incredibly sour and the chicken was greasy underneath all that pucker-sauce. In fact, it was so sour, I’m not even sure it was LEMON they used for the zesty taste.
Aside being clean, the only thing good I have to say about is that they had a vegetarian menu for my aunt.
Thankfully, I don’t go to Santa Cruz very often. But then again, I’d probably eat somewhere else otherwise. Unless you’re desperate for finding a Chinese restaurant, don’t go to this place.
